Hi Gang!

Hope you've enjoyed a summer of beach - and anywhere! - reading.

A few of you have asked if we're doing a 2019 Halloween t-shirt this year, and the answer is...YES! We'll be unveiling our artist and this year's delicious design soon. In the meantime, we reorganized our page on our earlier shirts, so take a look if you'd like a stroll down Memory Lane: Iliad's Halloween shirts.

As a reminder: we'll be closed tomorrow, Monday, 9/2 - Happy (No)Labor Day!

Dan, Lisa, Bob, Ricky, Poul, Brett, Sean, Kevin, Richard, Eric, David, Zeus and Apollo

Sorry – because our storage is again packed to the rafters, we won’t be looking at books for cash or store credit in September.

Note: If you have already scheduled an appointment in September, we will honor that, so please come on in!

We will, however, be putting out new books every day! We’ll resume buying and trading in October. Thank you.

WHAT'S IN THE SAFE?
Have you ever noticed the big safe full of books behind Iliad's front counter? We get asked about it frequently. "Is it really old?" is a common question (the answer: no, we bought it new just a few years ago). But most customers want to know what kind of books merit storage in a safe (we think of these as the rarest of our rare books), so in this column we'll pick one book every month and tell you about it. This month's book is...
The Improvable Landscape by Edward Gorey, limited edition trade paperback published by Albondocani Press in 1986, in fine condition. Numbered 84/300, signed by Gorey. $450.

BOOK NEWS
Did you know there are "professional book curators" out there?

We deal with a lot of decorators, both the kinds who dress movie sets and the ones who buy to decorate clients' homes and businesses, so we're used to questions like, "Can you put together 20 feet of hardbacks with red spines for me?"

But I'm not sure we've ever dealt with a "curator" before, especially not one who makes custom dust jackets for the books...

ZEUS AND APOLLO
Thanks to customer Carla Finnemore for this adorable photo of a memorable time with Zeus.
Meanwhile, here's Apollo resting beneath a tree in the children's book area when a film crew turned the store into a fantasy paradise.
We'd love to include your photos in our newsletter! Feel free to send to info@iliadbooks.com , let us know that it's okay to use the photo, and we'll include it in a future newsletter.

If you need more photos/videos of Zeus and Apollo, or any of Iliad's past felines, please visit our Pet Gallery.
