Summer is here, which means we're smack-dab in the season of comics. Whether it's a graphic novel at the beach or a superhero movie in a cool theater, we love our summertime comics.
But what we really love are graphic novels and graphic art books that are signed with original art. We've got some primo examples here at the Iliad that you may not have seen. Here are five of our favorites:

Have you ever noticed the big safe full of books behind Iliad's front counter? We get asked about it frequently. "Is it really old?" is a common question (the answer: no, we bought it new just a few years ago). But most customers want to know what kind of books merit storage in a safe (we think of these as the rarest of our rare books), so in this column we'll pick one book every month and tell you about it. This month's book is...

Here at the Iliad, we love aspiring writers. There are a lot in Los Angeles, which is more of a literary town than it's often given credit for.
And because there are many young hopefuls in this town, there are hucksters ready to prey on them. One of those recently unmasked: Anna March (aka Delaney Anderson, Nancy Kruse and Nancy Lott). March spent a few years here in L.A., presenting herself as a well-connected intersectional feminist author. She threw big parties, and bought expensive lunches for writer friends.
Only problem is that she was a fake. She claimed to have book deals; she didn't. She set up workshops in exotic locations; they never happened.
This is a fascinating, cautionary tale. If you're a writer looking for a workshop or an editor, be sure to RESEARCH before you fork over.
