Hi Gang!

How's your spring been? In case you're feeling the itch to get out and do a little gardening, check out our recent blog post with tips on converting to native landscaping.

We hope you're all staying safe and healthy as we endure yet another pandemic surge. Masks are still optional (and will be unless Los Angeles enters the "high" infection tier again) but are recommended (we always have disposable masks available for free - just ask at the front counter).

As a reminder: we are not currently buying/trading, and we don't know when we'll resume. We also don't have a date yet for the re-opening of our Rare Book Room, but I can assure you that work is underway and progressing, and it'll be fabulous when it finally opens.

We hope to see you soon.

WHAT'S IN THE SAFE?
Have you ever noticed the big safe full of books behind Iliad's front counter? We get asked about it frequently. "Is it really old?" is a common question (the answer: no, we bought it new just a few years ago). But most customers want to know what kind of books merit storage in a safe (we think of these as the rarest of our rare books), so in this column we'll pick one book every month and tell you about it. This month's book is...
Cowboy Bebop: The Complete Manga Collection (5 volume set) by Hajime Yatate, Yutaka Nanten, and Cain Kuga. Five paperbacks in slipcase published by TokyoPop in 2002. Books are in fine condition (very minor wear to case). $500

TALKING ABOUT...
Here's a blog post from us talking about how books from our gardening section might help you create a more drought-resistant yard.

We were thrilled to be told that author Lucinda Berry named us as her independent bookstore pick on the Killer Author Club video series!

We've added a few more photos of beloved Iliad employee Bob Johnson to the tribute page we created for him.

We've been listing some interesting items on ebay recently - including rare Lenny Bruce stuff and a moon landing collection - so check out our ebay store!
ZEUS AND APOLLO
Zeus gets an E-ticket ride from employee Eric.
We'd love to include your photos in our newsletter! Feel free to send to info@iliadbooks.com , let us know that it's okay to use the photo, and we'll include it in a future newsletter.

If you need more photos/videos of Zeus and Apollo please visit our Instagram page or our Pet Gallery (where you can also see photos of our earlier felines).
