Hi Gang!

We hope this finds you well and ready to move into the world's next phase. Most of you know that California will be rescinding its mask mandate this month, on the 15th. As I write this, we're not sure if Los Angeles County will agree with that or not, but we'll all find out together, won't we?

We do have some good store news: we've brought back furloughed employee Eric! Our days keep getting busier, and so we're grateful to have the hard-working Eric back on the staff full-time.

As of this moment, please remember that you must still wear a face covering/mask while in the store, practice six-foot social distancing, and please stay home if you have any symptoms of or have been recently exposed to Covid. We have hand sanitizer and gloves available for your shopping security. Sorry, but the bathroom is not available to customers. Also, the latest county protocols have specified that we cannot offer any public seating inside the store.

Sorry to say that we still don't have new dates yet on when we will resume buying/taking books for credit. If you'd like to donate books, we can give you a hand unloading once you're in our rear parking lot.

We are making progress on our new Rare Book Room, which will be located adjacent to the main sales counter. In the meantime, if you'd like to browse our rare books, they are all listed at our website, and you can shop by category. Books found at the website may be ordered for shipping, curbside pick-up, or in-store pick-up.

Hope you're all staying happy, healthy, and well-stocked on books.

WHAT'S IN THE SAFE?
Have you ever noticed the big safe full of books behind Iliad's front counter? We get asked about it frequently. "Is it really old?" is a common question (the answer: no, we bought it new just a few years ago). But most customers want to know what kind of books merit storage in a safe (we think of these as the rarest of our rare books), so in this column we'll pick one book every month and tell you about it. This month's book is...

ZEUS AND APOLLO
Happy 7th Birthday to Zeus and Apollo! Former employee Kevin sent us this adorable shot of the boys as babies. We apologize for the excessive cuteness.
