Hi Gang!

Well, April was an interesting month: we hosted multiple film shoots, everything from small student films to a major superhero movie; we expanded our murals; and of course we bought tons of fabulous new books! Collections acquired in April include a nice lot of Folio Society and Limited Editions Club titles, a number of Clive Barker rarities, and the usual odd assortment of first editions and collectible books. Take a look at the sections below to see a few in particular.

You can always check out the latest arrivals to our website by visiting the "Shop" link and sorting by "newness". And although we don't have photographs with many of the listings, you can always feel free to ask us to provide some (we're also happy to provide more information on any listed book).

We hope your spring thus far has been green and renewing!

Burroughs, The Beatles), you'll now see that our parking lot wall depicts key scenes from The Iliad and The Odyssey.

WHAT'S IN THE SAFE?
Have you ever noticed the big safe full of books behind Iliad's front counter? We get asked about it frequently. "Is it really old?" is a common question (the answer: no, we bought it new just a few years ago). But most customers want to know what kind of books merit storage in a safe (we think of these as the rarest of our rare books), so in this column we'll pick one book every month and tell you about it. This month's book is...

Signed and inscribed by Coolidge to William Faulkner; previous owner (whose book plate and catalog sticker appear on front pastedown) was the actor Jean Hersholt; in custom leather clamshell case; corners and spine ends slightly bumped. $1,250.

BOOK NEWS
Have you heard of a new show premiering on PBS this month called The Great American Read?

Set to debut on May 22, the series claims to be "the most expansive national celebration of books and reading aimed at engaging multi-generational readers across multiple platforms ever created." It will unveil a list of America's 100 favorite novels, and will also include interviews with authors and readers.
