Iliad Bookshop's January 2022 Newsletter (#60)
View this email in your browser
Hi Gang!

This issue marks five years that we've been sending out our monthly newsletters. Five years! Thanks to all of you who read it, send us your comments or cat photos, or purchase books you see here.

We have some big goals for 2022, chief among them being the completion of our new Rare Book Room (near the front counter). We have 320 boxes of rare books waiting to put out on display once it's finished, and we can't wait to see it all! As a newsletter subscriber, you'll be the first to know when we open it.

We'll also resume buying/trading at some point in 2022, but we don't have a firm date yet. We are continuing to accept donations, though.

Also, as a reminder: face coverings are required inside the store. So far we haven't been required to check vaccination i.d.

We hope you're having a healthy and happy New Year.

WHAT'S IN THE SAFE?
Have you ever noticed the big safe full of books behind Iliad's front counter? We get asked about it frequently. "Is it really old?" is a common question (the answer: no, we bought it new just a few years ago). But most customers want to know what kind of books merit storage in a safe (we think of these as the rarest of our rare books), so in this column we'll pick one book every month and tell you about it. This month's book is...
Black Swans: Stories by Eve Babitz. First edition hardback in jacket published by Alfred A. Knopf in 1993. Signed and inscribed by Babitz. Condition is very good in very good jacket, with very light sunning and rubbing to the jacket and light soiling to the head. $250

BOOK BLOGS
Our December posts may have been talking about good books for the holidays, but even though the holidays are now past the books are still good!
ZEUS AND APOLLO
We should probably all worry when Apollo starts studying the counter-culture books...
We'd love to include your photos in our newsletter! Feel free to send to info@iliadbooks.com , let us know that it's okay to use the photo, and we'll include it in a future newsletter.

If you need more photos/videos of Zeus and Apollo, or any of Iliad's past felines, please visit our Pet Gallery.
