Would it surprise you to know that on the 2018 list of the top ten most successful authors, three of them wrote children's books?
Children's books are big business in the 21st century, thanks mainly to the massive and continuing success of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter books, but now middle-grade authors are taking their places alongside young adult writers as heavy hitters.
On the Forbes list of 2018 authors, there's Rowling at the #2 spot, but also Jeff Kinney at #5 (he writes the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series), and Rick Riordan (creator of the Percy Jackson series) at #10.
Publishers Weekly just announced another middle-grade author as their "Person of the Year": Dav Pilkey, who became hot thanks to the Captain Underpants series, and struck gold more recently with the Dog Man books.
